8 KEY THUMB PIANO ROSEWOOD

Rosewood 8 key thumb piano, 3″ x 5″ , 8 metal keys. The 8 key thumb piano originates in Africa. It is also known as the mbira, kalimba or likembe. The metal keys are mounted on a wooden box that acts as the resonating chamber. Longer keys have lower pitches and shorter keys have higher pitches. So, The keys can be adjusted by tapping them in or out to adjust their pitch. Many different tunings are acceptable, according to personal preference. Similar tuning is only an issue when two instruments are played together; then they should generally agree in tuning. Red cedar and  lacewood 17 key thumb piano, 5″ x 7″ , 17 steel keys and two vibrato holes on the back. It has a rounded back.The  17 key thumb piano  originates in Africa. It is also known as the mbira, kalimba or likembe. Arabic Oud Rosewood

Six course  Arabic Oud Rosewood  with classic tear drop shape and bowl bottom. It includes 7 wound nylon strings and 4 rectified nylon strings, as well as a fixed Rosewood bridge. The body of the  Arabic Oud Rosewood  and neck are made from Rosewood and the bowl has white pinstripes in between each wooden stave. The neck and tuning pegs are also made out of Rosewood. Its soundboard is made out of spruce wood and has three round shaped sound holes, one larger one in the center and two smaller ones below on the sides. There is also a Rosewood pick guard at bottom to help prevent scratching sound board when playing. The decorations can vary from those photographed. This  oud  contains a great selection of woods and wonderful craftsmanship. There are multiple tuning options for instrument, but we recommend using the Arabic method: DGADGC. Two goat skin heads are tied to a wooden frame with thread rope. A thread snare is tied to one head. The Playing surface is about 11.5″. The drum is about 4.5″ deep. Each drum is shipped with a playing sticks. This is an historic reproduction designed by The Early Music Shop of Bradford, England. The English word “tabor” is derived from the Latin word for drum. Today we use the term tabor or refer to the two headed squat drums associated with the Fife and Drum. The thin shell of the tabor, looks like a frame drum shell with two heads. The shell is traditionally tin so the light weight instrument could be carried, and played, for long periods of time. The heads are usually rope tuned with a snare on one side. Players usually hang the drum from the forearm while using one stick to strike the snared head. The tabor is suspended by a strap from the forearm, somewhere between the elbow and wrist. RENAISSANCE DRUM 10-BY-11-INCH

This cylindrical drum has two heads, one with a snare. When the drum head is struck with the drum sticks, the snare adds a vibration, or rattle, to the drum’s din. The Renaissance style drums have a tension rim holding the skin head, and the snare is on the bottom head. This style of drum is a traditional military drum with a long history. They were used to mark time for marching or to signal during confrontations. In England during Renaissance, side drums like this were known as a tabor. In England, the shallow tabor, associated with the American war of independence, is sometimes called a tom tom. In France, during the 18th century, they were known as tambours , or tabret, and were well associated with the political resistance and rebellion against the French monarchy. BAROQUE GUITAR 5-COURSE LACEWOOD

The body is made with alternating staves of lacewood & Rosewood on sides & back; in a matte finish.  The soundboard is spruce.  The neck is lacewood with a Rosewood fingerboard.  The frets on the neck are tied nylon, there are 6 Rosewood frets on the spruce soundboard.  The tuning pegs are Rosewood. It has 5 courses of 2 strings each (course 1- 3 nylon and course 2 – 5 nylon & silver wound). The bridge has a Rosewood base with lacewood top; the ornate Rosewood mustache stands out against the light spruce soundboard.
